Choosing the right room
The very first thing you need to do is to choose the best room for your studio. The room you go with should be quite large; you don't want to worry about bumping into freshly painted works or knocking anything with wet paint onto the floor.
You should also chose a room that has a lot of natural lighting. When you count on primarily indoor lighting for your artwork, unnatural hues can come onto the surface you are working on and change the appearance of the colors. This can cause you to use the wrong shades and colors by accident. Blues, purples and greens can be extremely hard to tell apart with indoor lighting and so can reds, pinks and oranges.
If you can, choose a room that also gives you plenty of display space, so you can proudly hang your finished works around the room.
Choosing the right flooring
When it comes to choosing the flooring for your studio, you may want to go with hard flooring. Not only will you have to worry more about spilling or dripping paint onto carpet, but it can also be harder for you to get your easels to stand evenly on carpet. Cement, linoleum and tile are all good choices.
Painting the walls
You may want to paint at least most of the walls in white. This way, the color of the walls won't reflect into your work surface and cause you to have a difficult time seeing the colors correctly.
Choosing the right furniture
If you plan on having a sitting area in your studio, then you should consider going with contemporary furniture. Not only does a lot of contemporary furniture come in bright colors that work well in settings like art studios, but they also tend to have unique angles and shapes which goes great in an artistic environment.
